4’4″ x 4’8″ Afshar; c. 1900, Southwest Persia
Flowers, and gardens are popular motifs in Persian rugs. The field depicts two bouquets of realistically rendered roses. Many dealers describe the design as a gul (rose) ferengi (foreign or western) design. This design also can be found on certain Caucasian rugs (notably Seychours), and , of course on French rugs from the 18th, and 19th centuries.
