2’9″ x 1’2″ Yomud Kap; 3rd quarter 19th century, Turkmenistan

There are several sizes of Turkmen bags. A kap is smaller than a chuval, and narrower in width than a torba. In design a very similar piece was part of  the Leigh, and Sally Marsh collection exhibited at  the ICOC in Philadelphia in 1996.Their example is labeled Tekke, Since our bag face is Turkish (symmetrically) knotted, a Yomud family origin is likely.
